- On Saturday, June 25 (local time), it was decided at the 35th Session of the World Heritage Committee held in Paris that Hiraizumi --- temples, gardens and archaeological sites representing the Buddhist Pure Land nominated by Japan would be inscribed on the World Heritage List. Japan truly welcomes the decision.
- The inscription of Hiraizumi on the World Heritage List is welcome news that gives hope and courage to the people of Japan, especially those in the regions affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake, as they move forward toward reconstruction. Japan expects that this decision will create a momentum for making the history and culture of Hiraizumi widely known to the world.
- Japan will continue its efforts to protect its cultural assets including Hiraizumi and to further inform the world about their attractions.
