Meeting between Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Ikuo Yamahana and Uruguayan Ambassador Ana María Estévez (Relief supplies from Uruguay)

- On April 6, from 4:00 to 4:20 P.M., Mr. Ikuo Yamahana, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, had a meeting with H.E. Ms. Ana María Estévez, Ambassador of Uruguay to Japan.
- Ambassador Estévez expressed her condolences on the Great East Japan Earthquake, appreciated the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for briefing to the diplomatic corps in Tokyo about the condition of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, and stated that Uruguay will offer 4,600 cans of corned beef (about 2 tons in amount) as relief supplies to the victims of the earthquake.
- Mr. Yamahana expressed his gratitude for this cooperation of relief supplies, for the visit of H.E. President José Mujica Cordano to the Embassy of Japan in Uruguay for extending his condolences, and for the support from the Government and people of Uruguay to Japan as well as their calm responses to the situation after the accidents occurred at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant.
Relief supplies from Uruguay (4,600 cans of corned beef) arrived at Narita Airport on April 4, and was transported to Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture on April 6.
