- In response to the Tohoku district - off the Pacific Ocean Earthquake, the government of the Independent State of Samoa made a donation of 100 thousand US dollars (about 8 million yen).
- From Samoa, the letter of sympathy was sent from Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Tourism Hon.Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi, to Prime Minister Naoto Kan.
- The Government of Japan deeply appreciates a sense of solidarity expressed and assistance extended by the Government of and the people of Samoa.
