Emergency Grant Aid to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka in response to the Flood Disaster

  1. On Friday, February 25, 2011, the Government of Japan decided to extend emergency grant aid of 500,000 USD to the Government of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka in cooperation with the international organizations in such areas as water and sanitation, in response to the disastrous floods caused by the heavy rain.

  2. Upon request from the Government of Sri Lanka and the Flash Appeal announced by the United Nations on Thursday, January 20, 2011, the Government of Japan has decided to extend this emergency assistance from a humanitarian point of view and in light of the friendly relations between Japan and Sri Lanka.
