- Japan welcomes the appointment of Ambassador Marc Grossman as the U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, announced in U.S. Secretary of State Clinton’s Speech on Afghanistan and Pakistan on February 18th.
- In the speech, Secretary Clinton stated that the efforts by both the Afghan government and the international community must support a political resolution of the conflict. Japan appreciates the speech and intends to work closely with Ambassador Grossman, the U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan.
