- On Thursday, November 17, the election of the Secretary-General of the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity was held, on the occasion of the General Assembly of APT, in Jeju, the Republic of Korea. Mr. Yamada, incumbent Secretary-General of APT, was re-elected as the Secretary-General of APT for his second term.
- APT is providing various programs to achieve balanced development of telecommunications and the infrastructure of information technology in the Asia-Pacific region. Mr. Yamada has been endeavoring to promote capacity building and reduce the digital divide within the region since his assumption in 2007.
- Mr. Yamada’s re-election signifies that his leadership and achievements have been highly regarded. The government of Japan looks forward to Mr. Yamada’s further success, and it will continuously make active contributions to APT’s activities.
