- Japan is concerned about the situation in the Republic of Lebanon, in which a number of the Cabinet members under Prime Minister Saad Hariri announced their resignation on January 12 (Wed.).
- Japan hopes that all interested parties of Lebanon will demonstrate a calm and constructive attitude while respecting the rule of law. Japan supports the efforts of President Michel Suleiman toward the early establishment of a new Cabinet and the maintenance of democratic institutions.
