Issuance of the Final Panel Report on “European Communities and its Member States - Tariff Treatment of Certain Information Technology Products” in the WTO Dispute Settlement Proceedings

Concerning the dispute “European Communities (EC) and its Member States – Tariff Treatment of Certain Information Technology Products,” in which Japan, the United States, and Chinese Taipei jointly filed the complaint, against the EC in the WTO dispute settlement proceedings, on August 16 (Monday, Swiss local time), the final report was circulated by the Panel to all WTO members, accepting the claims made by the complainants and making the findings that the EC’s measures at issue are inconsistent with the WTO Agreements.
Japan welcomes this Panel report, and requests that in response to the findings the European Union in good faith and without delay bring its relevant measures into conformity with its obligations under the WTO Agreements.
