The Government of Japan is shocked at the report that people aboard boats carrying supplies to the Gaza Strip were victimized as a result of confrontation with Israel Defense Forces. We deeply deplore the casualties and the injuries of many people. Japan condemns the violent acts which caused this tragic incident.
Japan expresses its deepest condolences to the bereaved families. Japan urges that a full investigation be conducted and the situation be fully clarified.
Japan strongly calls upon all parties concerned to refrain from activities that could set off a cycle of violence.
