- The Government of Japan offers its congratulations to H.E. Mr. Faure Gnassingbe, current President of the Republic of Togo, for being elected in the presidential election held on March 4.
- Overcoming about fifteen years of political crisis, Togo has been making efforts for reconstruction. The Government of Japan welcomes this presidential election as further progress towards democratization, and hopes that Togo will keep its political stability and that it will realize even greater development under re-elected President Gnassingbe.
