Substantial Agreement on Negotiations with respect to the Agreement between Japan and the Republic of Colombia for the Liberalisation, Promotion and Protection of Investment

- 1. After the seventh round of negotiations on a Bilateral Investment Agreement between Japan and Colombia (hereinafter referred to as “Agreement”) which was held from December 13 (Monday) to December 17 (Friday) in Washington, D.C. and through confirmation work afterwards, both sides reached substantial agreement on essential parts of the Agreement. The negotiation meeting was attended by Mr. Yoshitaka Hoshino, Director of the South America Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Mr. Yuichi Hoshino, Director of Latin America Office, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and other officials from relevant ministries of Japan; and Ms. Ana Lucia Noguera, Director of Foreign Investment and Services, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism, and other officials from relevant ministries in Colombia.
- Both sides will continue necessary work for an early signature of the Agreement.
