Emergency Assistance for Flood Disaster in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela

- On December 16 (Thu), the Government of Japan decided to provide emergency relief goods (blankets, water purifiers, portable jerry cans, electric generators, etc.) equivalent to 10 million yen to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
- Venezuela, especially its north area, has been suffering from flood disasters caused by continual and heavy rain since mid-November, and so far, more than 130,000 people have been affected. In addition, according to the announcement made by the Government of Venezuela, the disaster has left 38 people dead. The rain is expected to continue in the worst affected northwestern area, and it is anticipated that the damage may increase.
- In response to the request of the Government of Venezuela, the Government of Japan decided to extend this emergency assistance from a viewpoint of humanitarian support to the victims of the disaster as well as in light of the friendly relations between Japan and Venezuela.
