Emergency Assistance for Flood Disaster in the Republic of Colombia

- On December 9 (Thu), the Government of Japan decided to provide emergency relief goods (tents, sleeping pads, etc.) equivalent to 20 million yen to the Republic of Colombia.
- The Republic of Colombia has been suffering from flood disasters caused by continual rain since April, and so far, more than 1,600,000 people have been affected. According to the information as of December 7, released by the Government of Colombia, the disaster has left 206 people dead. The rain is expected to continue, and it is anticipated that the damage may increase.
- In response to the request of the Government of Colombia, the Government of Japan decided to extend this emergency assistance from a viewpoint of humanitarian support to the victims of the disaster as well as in light of the friendly relations between Japan and Colombia.
