No reports have been received from the election observation mission dispatched by Japan of particular problems with the implementation of the elections.
- Japan calls on the people of Haiti and political actors to remain calm. It is expected that the electoral process in Haiti including vote counting will continue to be closely monitored and administered smoothly.
- Haiti continues to face significant challenges, including the recent outbreak of cholera, coupled with damages from the large-scale earthquake. It is hoped that the Government of Haiti and its people will overcome these difficulties, and that efforts are made towards the restoration of political stability and the livelihood of the people.
