Statement by the Press Secretary/Director-General for Press and Public Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the Parliamentary Elections of the Republic of Moldova

- On November 29 (Mon), the International Election Observation Mission dispatched by the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe / the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE/ODIHR) released the statement on its assessment of the Parliamentary Elections of the Republic of Moldova held on November 28 (Sun). The OSCE/ODIHR stated that the Parliamentary Elections had been carried out in a calm atmosphere and had mostly met internationally required standards such as transparency and equality. The Government of Japan recognizes that the Parliamentary Elections were conducted positively and in a manner as described in the OSCE statement, based on the reports from the Japanese observers participated in the OSCE/ODIHR mission.
- The Government of Japan expects that the new Moldovan government to be formed tackle the priority issues in view of further stability and development of the country, and intends to strengthen further the relations between Japan and the Republic of Moldova.
