Statement by Mr. Seiji Maehara, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, on the Release of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi
November 13, 2010
Japanese
- The Government of Japan views the release of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi on November 13th (Sat) as a step forward, as we had been deeply concerned about the fact that the pro-democracy leader in Myanmar had been under house arrest for many years.
- We expect the Government of Myanmar to take further positive measures in the future to realize improvement of the human rights situation, democratization and national reconciliation.
