- The second round voting took place on November 7 (Sun) for the Presidential election in the Republic of Guinea. This was the first democratic election for Guinea and holds an extremely important significance from the perspective of advancing the democratization process in the country, which has been in continuous turmoil since the military coup d’état which occurred at the end of 2008.
- The election occurred under the supervision of election monitoring missions dispatched from Japan and other nations as well as international organizations, who monitored the process around the country. Japan welcomes the fact that the election was carried out peacefully without any major disorder throughout the first and second rounds of voting.
- Japan strongly expects all interested parties to act calmly until the announcement of the final result.
