- In Haiti, an outbreak of cholera has caused more than 270 people dead and 3,600 people infected at present.
- The Government of Japan, since the outbreak of cholera, has discussed necessary assistance with the Haitian Government to tackle this problem.
- On October 27, the Government of Japan has decided to extend an emergency assistance of 15 million yen to the Republic of Haiti in response to the request for aid from the Government of Republic of Haiti. The assistance includes provision of such items as water purifiers, water tank, portable jerry cans etc.
