- On September 30, police forces in the Republic of Ecuador went on a nation-wide strike and the government of Ecuador declared a state of emergency, which Japan is following with concern.
- Japan supports the democratic framework and the legitimate Government of Ecuador and expects that this situation will be resolved swiftly in accordance with the law.
- Japan will closely follow the development of the situation in Ecuador, and pay the utmost consideration to the safety of Japanese nationals.
