  1. On September 30, police forces in the Republic of Ecuador went on a nation-wide strike and the government of Ecuador declared a state of emergency, which Japan is following with concern.

  2. Japan supports the democratic framework and the legitimate Government of Ecuador and expects that this situation will be resolved swiftly in accordance with the law.

  3. Japan will closely follow the development of the situation in Ecuador, and pay the utmost consideration to the safety of Japanese nationals.
