Dispatch of an Ambassador of Japan on Special Mission to Attend the Inauguration Ceremony of the President of the Plurinational State of Bolivia

- The Government of Japan will dispatch Mr. Shuji Kira, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, as Ambassador of Japan on Special Mission to attend the inauguration ceremony of the President of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, Mr. Juan Evo Morales, to be held on January 22 (Fri) at La Paz, the Plurinational State of Bolivia.
- Japan and Bolivia have a traditionally friendly relationship founded upon elements including approximately 14,000 people of Japanese descent active in Bolivia as well as Japan's economic cooperation extended to Bolivia. In order to further enhance these friendly relations, the Government of Japan has decided to dispatch an Ambassador on Special Mission to attend this inauguration ceremony.

In the Presidential elections held on December 6, 2009 in Bolivia, President Morales, who is the leader of the Movement for Socialism (MAS), was reelected to office after receiving 64.22% of the total vote. His second term will continue until January 2015.
