  1. The Government of Japan welcomes the confirmation by the U.S. Senate of Mr. John Victor Roos as U.S. Ambassador to Japan.
     
  2. Mr. Roos has the confidence of President Barack Obama, and has made clear his position to further strengthen the Japan-U.S. alliance. The Government of Japan will work closely together with Mr. Roos to address not only bilateral issues, but also issues facing the Asia-Pacific region and global issues. The two parties will make efforts for the multi-layered development of the Japan-U.S. alliance.
