  1. At the London Summit in April 2009, Japan pledged to provide up to 300 billion JPY in “Emergency Budget Support Japanese ODA Loan” to the Asian countries so that they can rapidly respond to the effects of the current crisis and continue strengthening their growth power and expanding domestic demand.

  2. The Government of Japan has set the terms and conditions of the “Emergency Budget Support Japanese ODA Loan”, which are effective as from July, 2009. Please see the attached sheet for more information.

  3. “Emergency Budget Support Japanese ODA Loan” is a special type of Program Loan that has been introduced on a temporary basis. Many developing countries are facing difficulties to carry out the necessary policy measures for the expansion of domestic demand due to reduction of revenue caused by the global financial and economic crisis. Emergency Budget Support Japanese ODA Loan is created to help such countries by expeditiously providing the necessary financial resources to implement necessary economic policy, and will be carried out cooperatively with financial aid for development assistance provided by multilateral development banks. This loan will contribute to the economic growth of developing countries, mainly in Asia, and consequently support the world economy including Japan.
