- Since (former) Prime Minister Koizumi raised the necessity of a legal
framework to combat counterfeiting and piracy at the G8 Gleneagles Summit
in 2005, the Government of Japan, together with other countries who are
highly concerned about the protection of intellectual property rights, has
actively been working to realize the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement
(ACTA) project.
- The Government of Japan and the other concerned countries have decided
to publish the summary of key elements under discussion. (Details(PDF))
- The Government of Japan looks to actively lead discussions with the other concerned countries with a view to concluding the ACTA as early as possible.
