- A preparatory meeting towards launching negotiations for the Japan-Peru
Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) was held from March 23 (Mon) to 25
(Wed) in Tokyo, Japan.
- Participants in the meeting were: on the Japanese side, Mr. Yasuo Tanabe,
Deputy Director-General of Economic Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Foreign
Affairs, and other officials from relevant ministries; and on the Peruvian
side, Mr. Nathan Nadramija, General Directorate of Asia-Oceania Bilateral
Affairs of Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism, and other officials.
- At the meeting, both sides reached a common understanding to certain extent with regard to the basic stance of both sides towards a possible EPA, towards an early launching of EPA negotiations.
