- On Tuesday, October 27, Mr. Tetsuro Fukuyama, State Secretary for Foreign
Affairs of Japan, held a meeting with H.E. Mr. Pagan Amum Okiech, Secretary
General of Sudan People’s Liberation Movement, at the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs for about half an hour from 9:30 a.m. Mr. Pagun Amum is visiting
Japan at the invitation of the MOFA of Japan.
- At the meeting, they exchanged views on economic and social development
in Southern Sudan and the implementation of the Sudan Comprehensive Peace
Agreement (CPA), including the elections in April 2010 and referendum for
the people of South Sudan in 2011.
- Both sides shared the view that they would continue to actively cooperate in such areas as the implementation of the CPA, the bilateral economic relations, and other areas.
