- On October 13, Mr. Tetsuro Fukuyama, State Secretary for Foreign Affairs
of Japan, held a meeting with H.E. Dr. Mutrif Siddiq, Under-Secretary of
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Sudan, at the Ministry
of Foreign Affairs for about half an hour from 1:30 p.m. Dr. Siddiq is visiting
Japan to attend the Japan-Sudan Policy Dialogue.
- At the meeting, they exchanged views on the bilateral relations including
economic cooperation, implementation of the Sudan Comprehensive Peace Agreement
(CPA), and peace talks on Darfur. Mr. Fukuyama stated that the new administration
of the Government of Japan would continue and strengthen the Tokyo International
Conference on African Development (TICAD) process and actively address issues
faced by Africa.
- Both sides shared the view that they would continue to actively cooperate in such areas as the implementation of the CPA, the enhancement of bilateral economic relations, and other areas.
