Courtesy Call on Ms. Seiko Hashimoto, State Secretary for Foreign Affairs, by Mr. Tan Sri Rastam Mohd Isa, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia

- On January 22 (Thu), Ms. Seiko Hashimoto, State Secretary for Foreign
Affairs, received a courtesy call by Mr. Tan Sri Rastam Mohd Isa, Secretary-General
of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia. It began at 3:00 pm and
lasted for about 30 minutes.
- Ms. Hashimoto warmly welcomed Mr. Rastam Mohd Isa to Japan and expressed
her hope that the Japan-Malaysia Bilateral Consultation to be held in Tokyo
on the afternoon of January 23(Fri) will be productive. It has been
five years since a Consultation of this kind was last held. Mr. Kenichiro
Sasae, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, will participate in the upcoming
Consultation from the Japanese side.
- Mr. Rastam Mohd Isa expressed his gratitude for Ms. Hashimoto’s acceptance
of his courtesy call and also said that it was an honor to attend the Bilateral
Consultations to be held for the first time in five years.
- In addition, they exchanged views on the current situation and problems in bilateral relations and also on global efforts to tackle climate change and other issues.
