The Establishment of the Japan-Arab Economic Forum

- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and
Industry announce the establishment of the “Japan-Arab Economic Forum”
with the Arab League in cooperation with relevant governmental and private
organizations, for the purpose of strengthening economic ties between Japan
and Arab countries.
- The Forum aims to help Japan-Arab economic relations be reinforced through
cooperation in such fields as trade and investment promotion, energy, technology
and human resources development. With the participation of relavant governmental
organizations and private economic organizations, the Forum is expected
to be an active all-Japan undertaking.
- The first Forum is planned to be held in Tokyo this fall, and the second in Tunis, Tunisia, in 2010.
