Statement by the Press Secretary/ Director-General for Press and Public Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the Current Situation in Bolivia

  1. The Government of Japan expresses its strong concern about the intensified conflict between Government and anti-Government groups in Bolivia, which resulted in many casualties.
     
  2. The Government of Japan urges all parties concerned in Bolivia to seek a solution to the issue without recourse to violence and in conformity with democracy, and strongly hopes that the situation will be settled through dialogue and the democratic process be maintained.
     
  3. The Government of Japan will continue to pay attention to the situation with great concern.
