- The Government of Japan welcomes that Syria and Lebanon have agreed
to establish diplomatic relations at the ambassador level as a result of
the meeting between Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad and Lebanese President
Michel Suleiman held on 13 August.
- The Government of Japan welcomes the recent positive developments towards the stability of Lebanon such as the selection of a new president and the formation of the National Unity Government. The Government of Japan strongly hopes that this agreement will also contribute to the peace and stability of Lebanon and the entire region.
