
Statement by Mr. Masahiko Koumura, Minister for Foreign Affairs, on the Intensification of Armed Clashes in South Ossetia

- Japan expresses grave anxiety and concern about the armed clashes in
South Ossetia, Georgia.
- Japan strongly urges all the parties concerned to halt the use of armed
force immediately, exercise utmost self-restraint, and avoid worsening the
situation through dialogue.
- Japan hopes that the territorial integrity of Georgia will be respected for the recovery of peace and stability in the region and that the situation will be settled as soon as possible through dialogue between the parties concerned.
