Statement by the Press Secretary/Director-General for Press and Public Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the Resumption of the Cross-strait Dialogue

- As the peace and stability of the Taiwan Strait is extremely important
for the region and the world, the Government of Japan hopes that issues
surrounding Taiwan will be resolved peacefully by direct dialogue on the
Taiwan Strait between the parties concerned.
- Based on such a standpoint, the Government of Japan welcomes the news that both sides have resumed dialogue, and will continue to keep track of the situation.
