Meeting between Mr. Masahiko Koumura, Minister for Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Al Daharani, Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies of the Kingdom of Bahrain

- H.E. Mr. Khalifa Bin Ahmad Al Daharani, Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies
of the Kingdom of Bahrain, who is currently visiting Japan as a guest of
the Speaker of the House of Representatives, held talks with Mr. Masahiko
Koumura, Minister for Foreign Affairs, on June 4 (Wed) from 17:10 to 17:25.
- Mr. Al Daharani and Mr. Koumura welcomed the active high level visits
between the two countries, including the mutual visit of the Parliamentary
Friendship League of both sides as well as the deepening economic ties and
mutual understanding. They shared the view on the importance of cooperation
in the eradication of terrorism. Mr. Koumura also expressed appreciation
for the ongoing democratization in Bahrain including its lively parliamentary
activities.
- In addition, Mr. Al Daharani and Mr. Koumura exchanged opinions on cooperation in the international arena. Mr. Koumura expressed gratitude for Bahrain’s support for Japan’s candidacy in the 2008 election for non-permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council, and for the resolution on the Situation of Human Rights in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea in the UN General Assembly.
