Statement by Press Secretary / Director-General for Press and Public Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the Current Situation in Lebanon

The Government of Japan welcomes the agreement reached by all parties in Lebanon to overcome its prolonged political stalemate, on May 21.
The Government of Japan highly appreciates the efforts of the Government of Qatar, the Arab League and other parties involved for supporting the conclusion of the agreement.
The Government of Japan strongly hopes that all parties in Lebanon will fully implement this agreement to elect a new president as soon as possible, and continue dialogue to achieve stability in Lebanon.
