Statement by the Press Secretary/Director-General for Press and Public Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the Incursion of Colombian Troops into Ecuadorian Territory

In connection with the incursion of Colombian troops into Ecuadorian territory on March 1, the Organization of American States (OAS), at a special session of the Permanent Council on March 5, in seeking a peaceful solution to the matter, adopted a resolution in support of establishing an investigative commission as well as convening a meeting of the hemisphere’s foreign ministers on March 17.
The Government of Japan fully supports, and hopes for the success of the efforts by the OAS and other countries and organizations for a peaceful solution of the issue.
