Japan-Canada Trade and Investment Dialogue

- The first Japan-Canada Trade and Investment Dialogue will be held on
November 4 (Tue) and 5 (Wed) in Tokyo (Ministry of Foreign Affairs).
- The establishment of this Dialogue was decided in January this year
to promote trade and investment between Japan and Canada, an important supplier
of, in particular, energy to Japan. This will be the first meeting of the
Dialogue.
- The Dialogue will be attended on the Japanese side by Mr. Yoichi Otabe,
Director-General, Economic Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
as the chair, and officials of that ministry, the Ministry of Internal Affairs
and Communications, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Agriculture,
Forestry and Fisheries, and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry,
and others related, and from the Canadian side by Mr. Jonathan Fried, Ambassador-designate
of Canada to Japan, as the chair, and related officials of the Ministry
of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.
- At the forthcoming Dialogue, there will be an exchange of views on the improvement of the business environment, regulatory cooperation and trade policy, with a view to promoting trade and investment between Japan and Canada.
