Exchange of Diplomatic Notes concerning the Entry into Force of the Agreement between Japan and the Republic of Chile for a Strategic Economic Partnership

- The exchange of Diplomatic Notes concerning the Entry into
Force of the Agreement between Japan and the Republic of Chile for a Strategic
Economic Partnership (EPA) took place on Saturday, August 4 in Santiago, Chile,
between Mr. Wataru Hayashi, Japanese Ambassador to the Republic of Chile, and
Mr. Albert Van Klaveren Stork, Minister for Foreign Affairs ad interim of Chile.
With this exchange of diplomatic notes, the EPA will enter into force
on Monday, September 3.
- This EPA is aimed to enhance economic partnership between
the two countries by promoting liberalization and facilitation of trade and
investment, as well as advancing comprehensive cooperation in such matters as
intellectual property, competition policy and improvement of the business environment.
- It is expected that the entry into force of this EPA will further vitalize the economies of Japan and Chile and tighten bilateral relations through strengthened economic partnership in various fields.
