Monitoring of the Presidential Election in Timor-Leste (Preliminary Assessment by the Japanese Election Observation Mission)

- On April 11 (Wed), the Election Observation Mission of the Government of Japan released the preliminary assessment based on their monitoring of the presidential election in Timor-Leste, which was held on April 9 (Mon). (See attachment for full text(PDF))
- The assessment stated, among others, that the polling station preparation
as well as polling and counting procedures were conducted in compliance with
the election rules, except some technical problems, and that the elections were
carried out so far in a free and fair manner and in a generally peaceful environment.
