Fourth Negotiation for a social security agreement between Japan and the Netherlands
April 3, 2007
1. The Fourth Negotiation for a social security agreement between Japan and the Netherlands will be held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from April 2 (Mon) to 5 (Thu).
2. The negotiation will be attended on the Japanese side by Mr. Hideo Suzuki, Director of the European Policy Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Masaya Ojika, Director of the International Pension Division, Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, as well as officials concerned from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, and the Social Insurance Agency. It will be attended on the Dutch side by Mr. Cees J. Van Den Berg, Head of Conventions and National Insurance Department, Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment, as well as other officials concerned.
3. Currently, employees who are temporarily sent from Japan to the Netherlands by corporations and others are obliged to affiliate to the pension systems of both countries and pay both social security contributions, thus imposing an economic burden on the corporations and their employees. It is expected that the conclusion of an agreement between Japan and the Netherlands will solve these problems, reduce the burden imposed on the corporations and employees, and further promote human and economic exchanges between the two countries.
