Statement by Press Secretary/Director-General for Press and Public Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the 19th Arab League Summit

1. The Government of Japan welcomes the numerous constructive messages delivered at the 19th Arab League Summit held in Riyadh on March 28 (Wed) and 29 (Thu) towards resolving conflicts in the Middle East such as in the Palestinian territories, Lebanon and Iraq.
2. The Government of Japan highly appreciates the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia who chaired and brought it to a successful conclusion. The Government of Japan, for its part, will continue to do its utmost to help achieve stability in the Middle East.
3. Dr. Arima, Special Envoy of the Government of Japan for the Middle East, attended this meeting as an observer on behalf of the Government of Japan.
