Emergency Assistance to the DKI Jakarta Province, Indonesia, for Flood Disaster

- On February 5, The Government of Japan has decided to provide emergency relief goods in kind (blankets, sleeping mattress, plastic sheets and plastic canteen), equivalent to approximately 15 million yen, to the Government of Indonesia for its large scale floods in the DKI Jakarta Province and neighboring areas in Indonesia.
- On February 1, floods caused by torrential rain brought about disaster in the DKI Jakarta Province and its neighboring areas, from which many people are suffering. It is said that by the evening of February 5, 18 persons were killed, 2 persons were missing, and some 340,000 were displaced.
- The Government of Indonesia is doing its best to assist the flood affected people, who are forced to lead a difficult life due to a series of disasters. Under these circumstances, it requested the Government of Japan an emergency assistance.
- Japan has decided to extend this emergency assistance from a humanitarian viewpoint and in light of the friendly relations between Japan and Indonesia.
