Earthquake Disaster in Central Java, Republic of Indonesia: End of Japan Disaster Relief Medical Team (Self Defense Forces Unit) Activities

  1. The Government of Japan has decided that Self Defense Forces unit as a Japan Disaster Relief Medical Team, which has been engaged in relief work in the Central Java since June 2, will complete its mission on June 16 and the unit will withdraw by around June 22.
  2. The dispatched unit has treated a total of more than 2,500 people and vaccinated about 1,500 people against tetanus, measles and other diseases at two aid stations in Bunder and Prambanan and on circuit, mainly in the eastern part of Yogyakarta province. The unit also cordoned off a total of 4,300 square meters.
  3. The Government of Indonesia, its national military forces, the government of Yogyakarta, and the victims of the disaster have repeatedly expressed their gratitude for these activities of the Self Defense Forces unit.
