Teleconference between Minister for Foreign Affairs Taro Aso and President Kay Rala Xanana Gusumao of Timor-Leste

- On June 8 afternoon, Minister for Foreign Affairs Taro Aso had a conference over the phone call with President Kay Rala Xanana Gusumao of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste.
- Foreign Minister Aso stated that Japan expects the urgent restoration of law and order in Timor-Leste, continues to provide maximum cooperation for proactively contributing to the consolidation of peace and nation-building in Timor-Leste, and intends to take the initiative in the Security Council on the ideal involvement of the UN for Timor-Leste.
- President Gusumao expressed his deep gratitude for Japan's assistance and cooperation, and for the kind phone call from Foreign Minister Aso.
