Messages of Condolences on the Demise of King Fahd Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

On hearing of the demise of King Fahd Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi and Minister for Foreign Affairs Nobutaka Machimura sent messages of condolences. The gist of their messages is as follows:

The demise of King Fahd Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, who made great contributions to peace and stability in the Middle East, the development of the Islamic world and the stability of the international energy market, is a loss for the international community, including Japan, and I am in deep sorrow.
I extend my condolences to the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its people.
I hope the people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will in time overcome this deep　sorrow and go on to further development.
