Talks by Telephone between Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi and President Olusegun Obasanjo of Nigeria

  1. On July 27 at 10:00 p.m., Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi and President Olusegun Obasanjo of Nigeria talked over the telephone for about 15 minutes on the United Nations Security Council reform.
  2. Prime Minister Koizumi told President Obasanjo, Chair of the African Union (AU), that he hoped for President to exercise leadership toward the adoption of the draft joint resolution of the G4 and the AU.
  3. President Obasanjo responded that he would make the utmost efforts on his part so that the African countries would reach an agreement on the draft resolution.
  4. At the end of their talks, they promised to remain in close contact for the successful adoption of the draft joint resolution of the G4 and the AU.
