Situation in the Kyrgyz Republic

  1. In the afternoon of March 22, Mr. Kenji Shinoda, Deputy Director-General, European Affairs Bureau, invited Mr. Askar Kutanov, Kyrgyz Ambassador to Japan, to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and conveyed to him of the contents of the statement by the Press Secretary/Director-General for Press and Public Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the current situation in the Kyrgyz Republic arising from the recent parliamentary elections. Mr. Shinoda told the Ambassador that the Government of Japan expected the situation to be settled in a peaceful manner.

  2. In response to this, Ambassador Kutanov said that he would promptly convey the position of the Government of Japan to the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic, while expressing his gratitude for the considerate attitude of the Government of Japan.
