Dispatch of Japanese Election Observers for the Parliamentary Election in the Republic of Moldova

- The Government of Japan has decided to dispatch two observers to the International Election Observation Mission of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) to assist the fair implementation of the parliamentary election in the Republic of Moldova which is scheduled to take place on Sunday, March 6. The two observers are Mr. Shigeo Mutsushika, Professor of Shizuoka University, who has a detailed knowledge of the current situation in Moldova, and Mr. Yoshihiro Katayama, Counselor of the Japanese Embassy in Moldova.
- Over 150 election observers are expected to participate in this OSCE/ODIHR International Election Observation Mission. The Government of Japan has decided to dispatch its election observers as part of Japan's contribution for the democratization and stability of the Republic of Moldova.
