Japan to Participate in International Observation of the OCV (Out-of-Country-Voting) of the National Assembly Election of Iraq

- Regarding the OCV of the national assembly election of Iraq slated for January 28 to 30, the Government of Japan has decided to have the Japanese Embassy staffs in France, Iran, Jordan, Turkey, Sweden, Syria, the United Arab Emirates and the U.K. participate in the international observation of the overseas voting in their respective countries.
- The Interim Government of Iraq has been endeavoring to carry out the election on January 30 as scheduled. To help this effort, Japan has decided to participate in the international observation of the overseas voting.
Japan has so far contributed $40 million for the election and conducted election management training for members of the Independent Electoral Commission of Iraq.
