Ad hoc Office of the Japanese Embassy in Banda Aceh, Indonesia to Start Operations

The ad hoc office of the Japanese Embassy in Banda Aceh, Indonesia, to conduct liaison, coordination, and other activities of assistance for Japan's emergency relief teams dispatched in response to the major earthquake off the coast of Sumatra and the tsunami in the Indian Ocean, started its operations today, January 27, earlier than originally scheduled, because the preparatory work to open the office has gone smoothly.
At the ad hoc office, established in a house in Banda Aceh rented by the Japanese Embassy in Indonesia, about five officials will receive Japan Self Defense Forces personnel, and liaise and coordinate with the emergency headquarters in Banda Aceh of the Indonesian Government, other countries, and international and Japanese aid organizations.
