Message Sent by Ms. Yoriko Kawaguchi, Minister for Foreign Affairs, to Mr. Noer Hassan Wirajuda, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, concerning the Bombing Incident in Jakarta

- Concerning the bombing incident that took place at noon on August 5 local time at a hotel in downtown Jakarta, capital of Indonesia, Ms. Yoriko Kawaguchi, Minister for Foreign Affairs, sent a message of her heartfelt condolence and sympathy to Mr. Noer Hassan Wirajuda, her Indonesian counterpart, for many people were killed or injured by the bombing, and conveyed her strong condemnation of this act of terrorism as extremely cowardly and heinous.
- Ms. Kawaguchi also stated in her message that Japan has been engaged in the fight against terrorism in concert with the international community since it regards the fight against terrorism is a matter of its own security, and that it will continue to make effort to counter terrorism actively in coordination and cooperation with Indonesia.
